About

Welcome to Best Original Scores, a site dedicated to reviews of music from movies, video games, other media, and whatever else happens to strike my fancy. Despite the name, I am not claiming these to be objective in any way: they are simply one man’s opinions, nothing more.

Please let me know if there is something you would like reviewed, and I will do my best to locate a copy and pen a review. Many of these reviews are ported from a now-defunct website that I ran 2006-2008 which I doubt anyone ever saw; others were originally written for another now-departed site called VGM Rush. Feel free to visit my other blog, Excerpts from Nonexistent Books, which is a daily abstract fiction blog (but keep in mind that there will be very little, if any, overlap in content).

  1. You’ve done a seriously impressive job with your reviews here. Give me a holler if you can, would love to talk vgm etc!

Btw you might want to have a look at the link on this page to your other blog. The current link is broken.

    • Thanks for the kind comment, it made my day! I’m not as active in the VGM scene as I used to be, but I’m always up for a bracing discussion of its merits 🙂

And thanks for the broken link catch. No wonder my brand synergy was in the toilet!

      • Well I think vgm reviews carry more weight when the author doesn’t listen to vgm exclusively anyway.

I’m curious whether I know of this now-defunct site you mention. Certainly remember VGM Rush. Shoot me an email sometime via my site’s contact form. Not spamming here, I just don’t see a contact form anywhere 🙂

  2. It’s fine, I’ll certainly do that once the holiday craziness is over!

The defunct site was called Main Titles (not to be confused with a similar site called Main Title). I think the domain name is cybersquatters now if anything.

  3. Hello! I love your music reviews! I noticed that your final fantasy 7 review link doesn’t work 😦 Any chance you could get it back up?
